American Heritage School’s Parent Handbook describes the philosophy, methodologies, and policies of the school. Parents who read the handbook are better able to support their student throughout the school year. Parents are encouraged to read this handbook carefully and address questions to school administration.

Attend Foundations Training

The first week of each June, American Heritage School hosts a multi-day Foundations Training for parents, teachers, staff, and administrators. This training is designed to strengthen parents and teachers in the essential philosophies, methodologies, and practices of the school. Those who attend learn more specifically what happens in American Heritage School classrooms and how to strengthen the home and school partnership in educating the hearts and minds of children.

Get Involved on Campus

Join your children on-campus. All families attending American Heritage School are required to fulfill 30 hours of service at the school. This service requirement can be accomplished in myriad ways, such as assisting in classrooms, helping in the lunchroom, or chaperoning fieldtrips and extra-curricular activities. Be creative in finding ways to help serve and build the school. There is such a wonderful atmosphere of unity created as families and teachers join together in service learning.

Stay in Touch

American Heritage School provides abundant communication to families. Look for and read weekly “Important Announcement” emails from the school. Notice “Friday Facts” – a half-page flyer that includes important announcements and reminders – which are sent home each Friday that school is in session. Bi-monthly school newsletters published by the school help families stay informed. Additionally, many teachers send home weekly newsletters or emails about coursework and activities. Additionally, two required all-parent meetings are held each year. These meetings are excellent opportunities for enrolled families to maintain close communication with the school regarding its progress and receive answers to questions. The school welcomes parent feedback and suggestions through personal comments and provides anonymous surveys which are sent out twice annually.
